Bush Ranch
On Sunday, Blanche and I decided to go for a little country drive and check out a Cafe that is spoken well of out in McGregor, TX. We had lunch there – homestyle cooking – and it was very good.
This Cafe in McGregor, which is close to Crawford, is supposedly a regular stop for President George W Bush whose ranch is not far. Because it was close, we decided to take a drive out into the country to see what we could see.
It was a very noneventful drive for a while and we were wondering if we were in the right place. Lots of open land and few homes; windy roads and cacti all over the rocky, ranch land.
All of a sudden we see signs like in the picture, warning the vehicles not to stop. Of course we slow down so I can snap the above picture, and then try to figure out what we can see. There were trees blocking most of the view in the direction of what seemed like the land and there was really nothing visible. As the road veered left we could see the a less-traveled road that went to the right and a big barricaded entry gate with a big sign with red letters reading “STOP”.
We decided to go right (the wrong way) to get a better look. And as soon as we began to head in that direction, a tinted Suburban appeared out of nowhere behind us and began to come our way. So we decided to turn around and stop making the security suspicious.
Even though we didn’t really get to see anything, it was a fun trip.
