Little Slugger

Baseball Season

Austin has started baseball season.  He’s played pretty much everything else so far, but this is his first time on a baseball team.

Austin on the pitcher’s mound for his first baseball practice.

He just finished basketball season a couple of weeks ago, and today started baseball season. He showed up ready to play and it looks like it’s going to be a fun season!

Extending Traditions

My parents came to town this weekend to visit for a few days.  Along with them, they brought a few things that were mine when I was a kid….including all of my old baseball cards.  I began to look through them all and remember my favorite players from the 80s.  Jackson became very interested in the idea that I still have something that I had started collecting when I was in 1st grade – which is the grade he’s currently in.

After realizing that he could begin his own collection, he insisted that we buy his very first pack of baseball cards – so we did.  The boys each bought 2 packs of Topps cards with their own money that they had left over from Christmas.  Jackson held them for several hours after looking at each of them.  I’m looking forward to teaching them about the different teams, how to organize them, and how to develop a good collection!

Basketball season is over

Austin’s last basketball was this morning, and it was a fun season. It was his first time playing, and as most team sports for Kindergarteners that usually involve organization, it was very entertaining.  He was proud to receive his “gold” medal, and the coach made mention of his rebounding abilities.  I’ll have video posted soon.

MLB Season is here…

…and nothing pleases me more than to see this team begin at the bottom of their division:

Did I mention my hate for the Yankees?

Play ball…

New Orleans Saints are Superbowl Champions!

I still can’t believe that the Saints won the Superbowl.
