As I continue to “clear the clutter” around my place and make room for Blanche, I’m trying to get rid of as much stuff as possible. Some things are easy to throw out and others are straight up difficult. I’ve been preparing myself to get rid of my Nintendo 64 for a couple of months, and I thought this week would be a great time because I could trade it in to get something for the boys before Easter.
Because it is an older gaming unit (I think I bought it 1999-ish) the first game store I went to wasn’t buying this system. They recommended a different place and I was happy to drive on over. I plopped my 64 up on the counter along with 12 games that were well-taken care of over the years. I was shocked at how little they offer for something so valuable (in my mind) but in exchange I was able to get something that excited the boys Very Much…. THE NEW SUPER MARIO BROS for Wii!
It is an Easter gift but I gave it to the boys on Thursday night so they could enjoy it over the weekend. Good Friday became the day of Mario, because the three of us played it on and off all day. It was a great day of fun and discovery of a new game for the boys. (and a great day for me to re-live a small part my childhood – [Super Mario Bros was my first video game in the 1980s with the original NES, along with The Legend of Zelda]).
On another note, Moustache May is coming up in a few weeks, and Mario & Luigi have some pretty powerful staches that inspire me to think bushy!
